Rudolf Hauser (cyclist)

Rudolf Hauser (born November 22, 1937 in Goldach ) is a former Swiss cyclist and national cycling champion .

Athletic career

In 1958 Hauser started cycling. In 1959 he qualified with a victory in the road race of Stafa for those A-class of the amateurs in Switzerland. After winning several podium places in 1960, he won the Martigny hill climb a year later . In 1962 he won the traditional Rund Race in Berlin (West). After further top positions in domestic races, he was nominated for participation in the UCI World Championships in road racing , in which he finished 30th. In the following year he obtained an independent license in order to be able to take part in professional driver races. He received a contract with the Italian team Cynar. He won two renowned races with the Northwestern Switzerland Tour and the Schellenberg Tour . In 1964 he became national champion in the road race for professional drivers. As in 1963, he again took part in the World Cup. He competed four times in the domestic Tour de Suisse ; 15th place in 1967 was his best result in the overall standings. In 1967 he competed in the Tour de France in the mixed team Luxembourg / Switzerland, but retired on the 8th stage from the race. He was active as a professional driver until 1968, when he ended his career.
