Gilbert Glaus (born December 2, 1955 in Thun ) is a former Swiss cyclist .

Gilbert Glaus grew up in Kerzers and is a trained locksmith. From 1971 he was active as a cyclist, initially as an amateur. In 1977 he won the Tell Grand Prix . At the road cycling world championships in 1978 he was world champion in road races on the Nürburgring and won the bronze medal in the team time trial with the team . In 1980 Gilbert Glaus took part in the Olympic Games in Moscow , eleventh in the road race and thirteenth in the team time trial. In 1981 he took third place at the World Road Championships in Prague . In 1977, 1980 and 1981 he won theGiro del Mendrisiotto and is a record winner to this day. In 1983 he won the Hegiberg Tour .

In 1982 Glaus, who was considered a sprinter , turned professional and won the Swiss road championship. He took part in the Tour de France five times - in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987 . In the Tour de France 1983 he won the 22nd and final stage on the Champs-Élysées in Paris . In 1984 he was the last and bearer of the Red Lantern .

In 1986 Gilbert Glaus won at Bordeaux – Paris and in 1987 at the Trofeo Laigueglia . He won the Klingnau reservoir tour four times during his career ; after his last victory in 1992, he ended his active cycling career as a professional. He then won the Ötztal Cycle Marathon for everyone .
