Flaviano Vicentini

Flaviano Vicentini (born June 21, 1942 in Grezzana ; † December 31, 2002 in Verona ) was an Italian cyclist and world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Vicentini was in August 1963 in Ronse, Belgium, title holder of the amateurs at the UCI road world championships . He had previously won a few races in Italy, but had not yet appeared internationally. In the following season he became a professional driver in a small Italian team ( Ignis ) and was able to take third place in the Tre Valli Varesine in his first season as a professional . In 1966 he finished second in the Giro del Veneto , in which he was third in 1967. At the Tour de France 1967 he was 32nd overall, a year later he was classified 19th. He had his first start in the Giro d'Italia in 1965 , he started a total of five times in the Giro and achieved 20th place in 1966 as his best placement . In 1969 he won the Giro del Lazio and a stage of the Tour of Catalonia . He started for the Italian national team in the UCI Road World Championship in 1966 and was classified as 13th. In the classic cycle races, sixth place at Liège – Bastogne – Liège in 1967 was his best result.
