Henri Aubry

Henri Aubry (born March 28, 1922 in Bagneux , † July 20, 2012 in Blaye ) was a French cyclist and world champion in cycling .

The first major success in his sporting career was winning the championship of Auvergne in 1943. After that, he won some criteria as an amateur and was second in the Tour du Calvados in 1945. He also won the Paris - Bernay race . A year later he achieved the greatest success of his career when he won the road race of the UCI World Championship for Amateurs in Zurich ahead of the Swiss Ernst Stettler . In 1947 he got his license as a professional driver and initially drove for the French team Riva Sport-Dunlop. As a professional he could win four races; the most important victory he achieved in the race from Bordeaux to Royan in 1953. In 1947 he was second in the Boucles de la Seine race , which regularly took place shortly before the Tour de France . He also started in cyclo-cross races , but without major success.
