Rodolfo Massi (born September 17, 1965 in Corinaldo ) is a former Italian cyclist.

Athletic career

After Rodolfo Massi had won many races as an amateur, he became a professional in 1987 with great praise . But just a year later he broke his leg and had to undergo an operation, which resulted in one leg remaining a few inches shorter. So he was left with the job as a noble domestic , which nevertheless brought him some successes.

His best career year was 1998, when Massi won both the Tour of the Mediterranean and the Giro di Calabria . In the same year he won a mountain stage at the Tour de France , was 7th in the overall standings after the 16th stage and also led the mountain standings. But then doping agents were found in his hotel room, he was interrogated by the police and could no longer participate in the tour. He was the first racing driver ever to be arrested for doping and later banned for six months. In the peloton he was only called "The Pharmacist".

After that, he no longer played a significant role in international cycling, even though he was able to win a stage at the GP du Midi-Libre in 2000 and at the end of his career at the Giro d'Italia in 2003 finished 67th in the overall standings.
