Giro del Mendrisiotto

The Giro del Mendrisiotto is a former cycling race in the south of Switzerland . The one-day race takes place in the Mendrisio district ( Canton Ticino ). The race was first held in 1933 and has taken place almost every year since then. Racing was only interrupted for a long time during the Second World War. It was an amateur race until 1995 and a race in the U23 category from 2002 to 2004 . From 2005 to 2011 it was part of the UCI Europe Tour and had category 1.2 . Since 2012 it has been held as a national race again. The record winner is Gilbert Glaus , who won the race three times.
