Ignatas Konovalovas (born December 8, 1985 in Panevėžys ) is a Lithuanian cyclist .
Athletic career
In 2005, his first year in the U23 age group, Ignatas Konovalovas finished third in the Lithuanian time trial championship . In 2006, when he played his first season for the well-known and successful French team VC La Pomme Marseille , he won this competition. He also finished second in the Lithuanian road race championship in 2006 and won a stage in the important stage race Ronde de l'Isard , which meant he was also the first to finish the overall standings. At the European Rail Championships in Athens in the same year he came third in the team pursuit as part of the Lithuanian four- in-hand , which underscored his qualities on the track, which already came to light in 2003 when he achieved the same result at the European Junior Rail Championships in Moscow scored in this discipline.
In the 2007 season Konovalovas won the silver medal in the road race of the European Road Championship and was fourth in the individual time trial. At the Lithuanian championship he was second in the road race and in the individual time trial. Before that, he won another stage at the Ronde de l'Isard. From August 1, 2007 he drove for the French ProTeam Crédit Agricole as a stagiaire .
In 2008 Konovalovas received a contract with Crédit Agricole as an elite driver and decided to win a stage and the junior competition of the Tour of Luxembourg . In the same year he became Lithuanian champion in the individual time trial, which he repeated six times by 2017. In 2017 he also won the road race. In 2009 he won a stage of the Giro d'Italia and the Giro del Mendrisiotto . In 2015 he won the overall ranking of the 4 Jours de Dunkerque .
Ignatas Konovalovas started eight times at Grand Tours by 2017 . He took part in the Olympic Games three times . In 2004 in Athens he finished eighth in the team pursuit on the track together with Linas Balčiūnas , Tomas Vaitkus , Raimondas Vilčinskas and Aivaras Baranauskas . In 2008 in Beijing he competed in the street race and was 28th at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro , he could not finish the street race.
