Matthew Wilson (born October 1, 1977 in Melbourne ) is a retired Australian cyclist .

Athletic career

Matthew Wilson began his career in 2001 with the Mercury-Viatel cycling team . After a year he moved to the French team La Française des Jeux . There he took part in the Tour de France for the first time in 2003 , which he finished in one of the last places. In January 2004, Wilson won the championship title at the Australian road championship. From 2006 to 2007 he drove for the Professional Continental Team Unibet.com before transferring to Team Type 1 for the 2008 season . After another move to Team Garmin-Transitions in 2010, he drove his last season for Orica GreenEdge and ended his career after the Vattenfall Cyclassics in 2012.
