Henk Vogels

Henk Vogels (born July 31, 1973 in Perth ) is a former Australian cyclist who also has Dutch citizenship. His Dutch father, who is also called Henk Vogels, was a professional cyclist in the 1960s.

In 1994 he won the team time trial at the Commonwealth Games in Victoria, Canada, together with Damian McDonald , Phil Anderson and Dennis Brett . Henk Vogels began his professional career in 1995 with the predecessor team at Rabobank , namely Novell . In his second year he won a stage in the Tour de l'Avenir junior race . He then moved to GAN, later the Crédit Agricole team , and took part in the 1997 Tour de France for the first time. He finished her in 99th overall. In 1999 he celebrated the greatest success of his career, he won the national championship. In 2000 he moved to the US Mercury Cycling Team . After three years there, he stayed in the States with Navigators for another two years . In 2005 and 2006 Vogels drove for the Belgian ProTour team Davitamon Lotto , after which he switched to the American team Toyota-United . At the end of the 2008 season he ended his career.
