Francis Moreau (born July 21, 1965 in Saint-Quentin ) is a former French cyclist, Olympic champion and world champion.
Career
Francis Moreau distinguished himself as a versatile cyclist on the road and track during his professional time as a racing driver from 1989 to 2000 .
On the track, Moreau was able to achieve numerous podium places at UCI track world championships: in 1990 he was second in the single pursuit in Maebashi , in 1991 in Stuttgart he was world champion in pursuit and vice world champion in points . In the title fights in Palermo in 1994 he finished second in the pursuit, two years later in Manchester third and with the French four-four he finished second. In 1998 in Bordeaux he was again runner-up world champion in pursuit and 1999 runner-up world champion with the French foursome.
Twice Moreau took part in the Olympic Games, in 1996 in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney . In Atlanta he won the gold medal together with the French four-wheeler (with Philippe Ermenault , Christophe Capelle and Jean-Michel Monin ), and in the points race he was fifth.
Between 1990 and 1996 Francis Moreau started seven times in the Tour de France , but without any front placements. In 1993 he won the Paris-Brussels road race . In 2000 he declared his active time over.
Moreau works for ASO , a company that organizes major sporting events, including the Tour de France.
