César Marcelak

César Marcelak (born January 5, 1913 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , † February 17, 2005 in Bully-les-Mines near Liévin , Pas-de-Calais ) was a French cyclist .

Marcelak was originally from Poland . On July 27, 1947, he received French citizenship .

Also in 1947 he decided to become a professional racing driver, having started as an independent from 1937 to 1946 with a license. In 1948 and 1949 he took part in the Tour de France . He achieved his best placement in 1949 on the third stage between Brussels and Boulogne-sur-Mer , when he finished second behind Belgian Norbert Callens . From 1956 he drove again as an independent.

He celebrated the greatest success of his career in 1948 with the title of French road champion.

Marcelak died in February 2005 at the age of 92.
