Bobby Julich

Bobby Julich (born November 18, 1971 in Corpus Christi , Texas ) is a retired American cyclist .

Career

Julich became a professional with the American cycling team Spago - Nutrasweet in 1992 and moved to Motorola for two seasons in 1995 . He drew attention to himself in 1996 when he was ninth at the Vuelta a España . Two years later, now with Équipe Cofidis (1997-1999), he was third in the Tour de France . In the following four years at Crédit Agricole (2000–2001) and Team Telekom (2002–2003), he was unable to build on his old successes. When he was appointed in 2004 CSC team of Bjarne Riis arrived, things changed. He first won bronze in the time trial at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens - after Tyler Hamilton was disqualified for doping silver. In 2005 he was able to win the Paris – Nice stage race , once again the Critérium International and the first edition of the Eneco Tour . He celebrated his last victory again in 2006 at Paris-Nice with victory in the prologue . His best result in 2007 was second place in the Saxony Tour behind Joost Posthuma .

In September 2008 Bobby Julich ended his active career as a racing cyclist.

In 2010 Julich became a time trial coach with his old team Saxo Bank , but his contract was not renewed after a year. Julich then switched to Team Sky as a race coach .

In October 2012, Julich publicly admitted to having doped with Epo between August 1996 and July 1998 . His contract as a coach with Team Sky was terminated at the same time.
