Alexandre Geniez (born April 16, 1988 ) is a French cyclist .
Career
Alexandre Geniez was successful in two U23 stage races in 2009 : he won the overall ranking of the Ronde de l'Isard and one stage of the Giro della Valle d'Aosta . He then received a contract with what was then the Professional Continental Team from 2010 and stayed there until 2012. In 2010 he won a stage of the Tour of Austria and thus his first international elite race.
2013 he joined the French UCI ProTeam FDJ.fr . For this team he won a mountain finish as a soloist at the Vuelta a España 2013 . He did the same at the Vuelta a España 2016 . At the Giro d'Italia 2015 he was ninth overall.
At the Vuelta a España 2017 , Geniez and his teammate Nico Denz were taken out of the race by his new team Ag2r La Mondiale after they both clung to a support car on the 15th stage on the final climb.
He achieved a third stage victory in the Tour of Spain on the twelfth stage of the Vuelta a España 2018 through the sprint victory of a five-man breakaway group.
