Manuel Quinziato (born October 30, 1979 in Bozen , South Tyrol ) is a former Italian cyclist .
Career
As a junior, he won the royal stage of the 10th Trofeo Karlsberg in 1997 and came second overall. In 2001 he won the time trial of the European Championship, in which only riders in the U23 class are allowed to participate. He then got a professional contract with the Italian cycling team Lampre in 2002 . He drove there for three years before moving to the Spanish ProTeam Saunier Duval-Prodir in 2005 . He took part in the Tour de France for the first time and finished it in 131st place overall.
From the beginning of 2006 Quinziato drove again for an Italian team, for Liquigas-Bianchi . In 2011 he switched to BMC and was with this team twice - in 2014 and 2015 - world champion in the team time trial . He ended his sporting career at the end of the 2017 season. Originally, the team time trial at the road world championships was supposed to be his last race. However, given the climbs on the track (“I don't like that very much.”) Quinziato decided to leave his place in the team to Tejay van Garderen .
In March 2017 Quinziato successfully completed his law studies at the University of Trento , which he did during his time as a professional cyclist.
