Peter Velits

Peter Velits (2015)

Peter Velits (born February 21, 1985 in Bratislava ) is a former Slovak cyclist . He is the twin brother of the cyclist Martin Velits .

Career

Peter Velits began his international career in 2004 with the Dukla Trenčín Merida cycling team . He scored his first big success of his career in 2007 by winning the semi-classic Grand Prix de Fourmies the U 23 - road race of the world championships in Stuttgart .

In 2008 Velits received his first contract with a ProTeam , the German team Milram . For the 2010 season, he and his brother Martin joined the HTC-Columbia team, for which he achieved his first Grand Tour stage win in the 17th stage of the Vuelta a España 2010 , an individual time trial, and in the overall standings - after the doping disqualification of the original second - With 3:02 minutes he was second behind the overall winner Vincenzo Nibali .
