Patrick Lefevere (born January 6, 1955 in Moorslede ) is a former Belgian cyclist , later team manager and sports director .

Lefevere was a professional from 1976 to 1979 and was under contract with the teams Ebo-Cinzia , Ebo-Superia and Marc Zeepcentrale-Superia . Lefevere was particularly successful in the Belgian spring races such as Kuurne – Brussels – Kuurne or Drei Tage von De Panne .

After his active career, he became the sports director of various cycling teams such as Mapei and Quick Step . Well-known cyclists ride in these teams, such as Paolo Bettini , Tom Boonen , Frank Vandenbroucke , Johan Museeuw , Richard Virusque . His team's drivers have won the Paris – Roubaix race several times .

Until 2007, Lefevere was President of the Association Internationale des Groupes Cyclistes Professionnels , from which his team temporarily resigned in 2008.

In January 2007 the Belgian daily newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws reported under the title "Patrick Lefevere, 30 years of doping" about a doping program organized by the Belgian in his team. Lefevere admitted the use of amphetamines during his playing days but denied all other allegations. He sued three journalists involved and was awarded € 500,000 in damages by a Brussels court at the end of 2009 because the allegations were based on unreliable sources. At the end of April 2017, Lefevre, as the manager of his team, was acquitted by a Belgian court on charges of tax evasion ; the judge spoke of "carelessness and ignorance". However, Lefevere has to pay a heavy fine.
