Pawel Sergejewitsch Kotschetkow ( Russian Па́вел Серге́евич Кочетко́в , English Pavel Kochetkov ; born March 7, 1986 in Kamensk-Uralsky , Sverdlovsk Oblast , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian cyclist .

Career

In 2007, Pawel Kochetkov won the U23 race Giro delle Regioni with the Russian national team, the fourth stage to Cantagrillo di Serravalle. At the 2007 World Championships in Stuttgart , he started in the U23-class road race, where he finished 46th. The next year Kotschetkow was third at the Trofeo Alcide Degasperi and at the Trofeo Salvatore Morucci . At the World Championships in Varese he was 29th in the U23 road race.

In 2011, Kochetkov received a contract with Itera-Katusha and stayed for two years. During this time, one stage each won the Tour of Bulgaria and the Tour des Pays de Savoie . In 2013 he went to the Russian second division RusVelo . The following year he got a contract with the UCI WorldTeam Katusha . In 2015, he wore the blue jersey of the leader in the mountain classification at the Giro d'Italia for two days .

His greatest success so far is winning the Russian road race title in 2016. In addition, Pawel was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in the same year . In the road race he was part of a six-man leading group; in the end it came out in 38th place. He finished 28th in the Olympic individual time trial.
