Ivan Andreevich Rowny ( Russian Иван Андреевич Ровный ; born September 30, 1987 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian cyclist .
Athletic career
Iwan Rowny was junior world champion in road racing in 2005 and rode for the Italian cycling team Tinkoff Credit Systems from 2006 . At the 2005/06 Track Cycling World Cup in Los Angeles , Rowny won the team pursuit with Sergei Klimow , Alexander Serow and Nikolai Trussow , and at the 2006/07 World Cup in Sydney , he won the same discipline with Serow, Trussow and Mikhail Ignatiev .
At the Giro d'Italia 2007 Rowny contested his first Grand Tour , but could not finish the race. In the fall of 2007, he won a stage of the U23 Nations belonging Tour de l'Avenir and its first international road race in the Elite range.
In the 2010 season Rowny received his first contract with a UCI ProTeam with Team RadioShack . For this team he contested the Giro d'Italia 2011 and was 78th in the final ranking.
On September 8, 2014, during the 16th stage of the Vuelta a España, Iwan Rowny was removed from the race by the jury after a violent argument with Gianluca Brambilla . In 2018 Ivan Rowny became the Russian road racing champion.
Suspected doping
In the course of the doping investigation by the Public Prosecutor of Padua at the end of 2014, he was suspected of having been a customer of the controversial sports medicine specialist Michele Ferrari .
