The Vejle Stadion (temporarily: Ny Vejle Stadion or Jokri Park ) is a football stadium in the Danish city of Vejle in the commune of the same name in East Jutland . The Vejle BK receives here its opponent's home games.
history
The old stadium
In 1922 work began on building a stadium in Nørreskoven near Vejle. It consisted of an earth wall around the playing field. There was also a clubhouse . The stadium received its first grandstand in 1939, but the wooden structure burned down in 1954 and was replaced by a smaller grandstand. In 1960 a floodlight system was built . In the Superliga game Vejle BK against Brøndby IF in 1995, a railing broke in Block A; 28 people were injured. On November 4, 2007, the last game of Vejle BK took place in the stadium. In front of 6,868 spectators, Vejle won 3-1 against BK Frem København . The women's team and the other Vejle BK teams continue to use the old stadium.
The new stadium
For a long time there were plans to rebuild or rebuild the Vejle Stadium. Finally, in 2004, the decision was made to build a new building right next to the old venue. Construction began in autumn 2006. On March 9, 2008, the opening ceremony was celebrated with the cup quarter- finals Vejle BK against FC Midtjylland (1: 2). The building consists of four covered auditoriums with a total of 10,418 seats; there are around 7,500 seats. Two video scoreboards are installed in the stadium. Under the playing field a lawn heating is laid. The sports facility meets the security requirements of UEFA ; only the floodlight with 1,000 lux is too weak for that . There are two sponsor lounges and 12 VIP boxes in the stadium . In the corners of the north stand there are office buildings that are rented out to finance the facility.
Stadium name
Vejle Municipality secured the naming rights for the Ny Vejle Stadium until 2010 for 7.5 million Danish kroner in 2008. In March 2010 it was announced that the naming rights of the stadium would be sold to Jokri A / S for the next five years . The Vejle BK venue was now called Jokri Park . At the beginning of February 2012, Jokri A / S had the contract terminated early. Since then, the venue has been called Vejle Stadion .
