Leif Tommy Prim (born July 29, 1955 in Svenljunga ) is a former Swedish cyclist .

Athletic career

In the early 1970s, Tommy Prim won several Swedish and Scandinavian cycling titles as a youth cyclist and junior . Prim started as an amateur for Club CK Ringen, from 1978 for IF Saab Linköping. 1976 he started in the team time trial at the Olympic Games in Montreal and finished seventh with the Swedish team. As an amateur, he took several top places in important stage races, such as in 1978, second place in the overall ranking of the Settimana Ciclista Lombarda and the Flèche du Sud . In Sweden he won the national titles in road racing , individual time trial and team time trial as an amateur (1976, 1978 and 1979).

From 1980 to 1986 Prim drove as a professional in the Bianchi team . In 1983 he was the first Swede to win a classic with Paris-Brussels . He successfully competed in the Giro d'Italia several times : in 1981 and 1982 he finished second, 1980 and 1985 fourth. He started several times for the Swedish national team at the UCI road world championships . He achieved his best results in 1981 in Prague and 1985 in Montello, Italy, each with the 33rd place.
