Axel Öhgren

Axel Öhgren is a former Swedish cyclist who did road cycling in the 1950s .

Öhgren operated road cycling as an amateur . He celebrated his first major success at the 1953 Swedish Road Driving Championships when he won the title in the 150-kilometer individual race. In the same year he took part for the first time in the Sexdagarsloppet, the Tour of Sweden , and reached 14th place overall. In the same race, Öhgren came in 1954 on 15th and in 1956 on 22nd place. In 1955 he took part in the Tour of Austria, which he finished eighth. A year later he was 14th in this tour. In the 1956 Östgötaloppet, the oldest Swedish one-day race , he came home as the winner. 1957 Öhgren was nominated for the Swedish national team, which took part in the three-country stage race Internationale Friedensfahrt . He won the first stage, finished second on the fourth section of the day, but then fell back and was fourth out of five Swedes in the overall individual standings, only 41.
