Alf Segersäll

Alf Ove Segersäll (born March 16, 1956 in Virsbo ) is a former Swedish cyclist .

Athletic career

As a youth and junior rider, Alf Segersäll won several Swedish road cycling titles , and he also placed on the podium several times at Nordic championships. As an amateur , he was a member of the Mariestadtcyklisten association. In 1976 he started the road race at the Olympic Games in Montreal , but did not finish. In 1977 he won the Flèche du Sud and in the same year was three-time Swedish champion in road racing, in individual and team time trials (the latter title he also won in 1979); In addition, he took second place in the overall ranking of the Girobio and in the Milk Race . In 1978 he won the Flèche du Sud again and in 1979 the Giro for amateurs.

In 1980 Segersäll became a professional driver. In 1981 he won the Trofeo Matteotti , in 1982 the Ruota d'Oro and in 1983 two stages in the Giro d'Italia . He took second place twice at the Trofeo Baracchi , in 1983 and 1984 with Tommy Prim . He started in 1981 for the Swedish national team at the Road World Championships in Prague and finished the race in 44th place.
