Owe Adamsson
Owe Adamsson (born March 8, 1935 in Mariestad ) is a former Swedish cyclist and national champion in cycling .
Athletic career
Adamsson (completely Per Owe Adamsson) had his first major success by winning a stage in the Swedish Six Day Tour ( Sex-Dagars ) in 1956, which he finished in 6th place in the overall classification. In 1957 he was second in the oldest and longest (more than 300 kilometers long) one-day race in Sweden, the Mälaren Tour (Mälaren Runt) behind his compatriot Gunnar Wilhelm Göransson . In 1959 he was Swedish road racing champion and was able to defend the title from 1960 to 1962. After he had won the Nordic championship in team time trial in 1960 (as again later in 1962), he was nominated to participate in the Summer Olympic Games in Rome . In the Olympic individual race he was classified as 73rd in the victory of Viktor Kapitonow , in the team time trial he was fifth with the Swedish foursome. Adamsson contested a number of amateur country tours, with stage wins in the British Milk Race , the Tour of Tunisia and the Tour of Sweden. His best placings in the overall classification in tours was second place in the Tour of Sweden in 1961 behind Herbert Dahlbohm and third in the Tour of Tunisia (winner Jean-Claude Lebaube ), also in 1961. In 1962 he was second in the Tour of Berlin . He drove the International Peace Tour in 1961, but retired.
Professional
Adamsson completed an apprenticeship as a graphic designer . He worked as an advertising artist.
Familiar
Two of his sons also became cyclists, Anders Adamsson was a participant in the 1980 Summer Olympics and later a professional , and his son Stefan Adamsson also became a cyclist.
