André-Jean Voelke

André-Jean Voelke (born December 17, 1925 in Trogen ; † August 25, 1991 ) was a Swiss historian of philosophy .

Voelke was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Lausanne from 1979 to 1991 . Cancer tore him from life at an early age.

He worked on Hellenistic philosophy, skepticism and stoicism in the outcome of Wittgenstein's definition of philosophy as therapy.
