Edouard Fachleitner

Edouard Fachleitner (born February 24, 1921 in Santa Domenica d'Albona ( Sveta Nedelja (Istria) ), Italy , † July 18, 2008 in Manosque , France ) was a French cyclist with Austrian and Italian roots.

Career

Edouard Fachleitner, the son of an Austrian who was naturalized in France, was born in Santa Domenica d'Albona in Istria and took French citizenship on June 24, 1939. His professional career stretched from 1943 to 1952. He celebrated his greatest successes after the Second World War . In 1947 Fachleitner was second behind Jean Robic in the Tour de France and decided the eleventh stage in Marseille for himself.

Before and after, Edouard Fachleitner also achieved good placements. He won the GP Circuit d'Armagnac in 1945 and the Aix-en-Provence and Ajaccio-Basta criteria in 1946 . In 1948 he won the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré and in 1950 the Shepherd of Manosque , as he was also known, won the GP de Cannes and the Tour de Romandie ahead of Hugo Koblet .
