Russell Downing (2016)

Russell Downing (born August 23, 1978 ) is a British cyclist .

Russell Downing won a World Cup in team pursuit on the track as early as 2004 . Before that, he was several times British champion on the track. In 2005 he won one stage in the Giro del Capo and three stages in the Tour de Bretagne . He later celebrated his greatest success of his career on the road by winning the British Road Championship .

In the following years he was successful in both one-day races and stage races . The most important victories include the overall ratings of the Tour of Ireland 2009 and the Tour de Wallonie as well as the stage win at the Critérium International 2009 . He also took part in the 2011 Giro d'Italia , which he finished 140th.
