Colin Lewis

Colin Lewis (born July 27, 1942 in Torquay ) is a retired British cyclist .

Athletic career

1964 Colin Lewis competed in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo and was 25th in the road race. With the British team he finished 15th in the team time trial. In 1965 he was third in the British championship in the road race of amateurs ; two years later and in 1968 he won the professional championship . As a result, Lewis mainly competed in races in Great Britain. So he won u. a. The Weston Weekend in 1968 , the Tour of the North in 1971 and the Derbyshire Tour in 1972 . He competed in the Tour de France twice - in 1967 and 1968 . He started in 1969 in Zolder, Belgium, at the UCI World Championships in road racing for the British national team and finished 27th.

In 1974 Lewis ended his active cycling career.

Professional

He also worked as a trainer for Colin Lewis and looked after the late Tom Simpson , among others .

His daughter Tamsin Lewis was active as a professional triathlete.
