Paris – Corrèze

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paris – Corrèze was a French cycling race .

The stage race , held annually from 2001 to 2012, is part of the UCI Europe Tour and is classified there in category 2.1. It was started by Laurent Fignon and originally took place in September. Above all, it was intended to serve as preparation for the road cycling world championship for French riders who lacked suitable opportunities to start in their own country prior to the world championships. However, due to the reorganization of the professional races by the UCI and the division into the UCI ProTour and the UCI Continental Circuits , the three-day race was postponed to the beginning of August and was therefore too far before the World Cup, which took place at the end of September, to serve as a preparatory race.

The race only started at its first edition in Paris , since then the first stage has started in departments in the wider Paris area. In 2002 and 2003, Omres started , and from 2004 the race began in Contres in the Loir-et-Cher department . The destination was always a town in the Corrèze department in the Limousin region (2001: Tulle , 2002: Brive , 2003: Ussel , 2004: Objat , 2005: Chaumeil ).

Due to financial problems, the 2013 event was canceled by the organizer.
