Bandiera Arancione
The Bandiera Arancione (in German: Orange Flag) is an Italian seal of quality in the field of tourism and the environment, which the Touring Club Italiano (TCI) awards to small communities (maximum population: 15,000) in the Italian hinterland. The excellent localities stand out due to their outstanding cityscapes and an excellent tourism infrastructure.
In 1998 the Orange Flag was established by the Ligurian regional association of the TCI, with the aim of enhancing the Ligurian hinterland. The TCI developed an analysis model ( Modello di Analisi Territoriale ) to determine the locations to be marked . As a result, the concept was carried over to the national level and today honors small communities in all regions of Italy.
The Orange Flag is the only Italian project recognized by the World Tourism Organization as a successful program to promote development in the field of tourism.
