Casciana Terme Lari is an Italian commune with 12,287 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Pisa in the Tuscany region .

Location of the municipality in the province of Pisa

Casciana Terme Lari is located approx. 27 km southeast of the provincial capital Pisa and approx. 58 km southwest of the regional capital Florence . The municipality lies on the Cascina River , a left tributary of the Era .

The districts include Casciana Alta (200 m, approx. 460 inhabitants), Casciana Terme (125 m, approx. 2500 inhabitants), Ceppato (230 m, approx. 105 inhabitants), Cevoli (85 m, approx. 290 inhabitants), Collemontanino (270 m, approx. 260 inhabitants), Lari (130 m, approx. 1110 inhabitants), Lavaiano (14 m, approx. 360 inhabitants), Parlascio (280 m, approx. 150 inhabitants), Perignano (25 m, approx . 2400 inhabitants), Quattro Strade (25 m, approx. 580 inhabitants), Sant'Ermo (180 m, approx. 115 inhabitants), San Ruffino (90 m, approx. 70 inhabitants) and Usigliano (150 m, approx. 200 Residents).

The neighboring municipalities are Capannoli , Cascina , Chianni , Crespina Lorenzana , Ponsacco , Pontedera , Santa Luce and Terricciola .

history

The municipality was created on January 1, 2014 by merging the previously independent municipalities of Casciana Terme and Lari . In the referendum on October 6 and 7, 2013, 80.02% (45.25% voter turnout) in Casciana Terme voted in favor of the union, in Lari 76.93% (34.02% turnout). The law for the merger of the two municipalities is Legge Regionale n.68 of November 22, 2013. The town hall is located in Lari. Casciana was independent until 1776, when it was added to Lari as a district. From 1927 to 2013 it was again an independent municipality, in contrast to Casciana Alta , the district of Lari remained.
