From 1255 the place was subject to Senese jurisdiction . In the conflict between Florence ( Guelphs ) and Arezzo ( Ghibellines ), Trequanda appeared on the side of Florence and also turned against Siena. After the victory of the Guelfs in the Battle of Campaldino near Poppi in 1289, the town was destroyed by Siena. After that, the place came under the rule of the Franzesi from Staggia Senese , who got into trouble, ceded the place back to Siena in 1309. In the conflict between Siena and Florence the place was conquered by Florence in 1552 and remained in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany after the final defeat of Siena in 1555 .
