Varese Ligure (in Ligurian : Vaeise ) is an Italian municipality with 1882 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of La Spezia in Liguria .

Varese Ligure is the northernmost municipality in the province of La Spezia and borders both the metropolitan city of Genoa and the province of Parma ( Emilia-Romagna ) with its territory .

The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana dell'Alta Val di Vara .

In 2006, Varese Ligure was awarded the Bandiera Arancione of the Touring Club Italiano , which distinguishes the municipality as a particularly interesting and ecological village. Varese Ligure is also a member of the association I borghi più belli d'Italia (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy).
