Levanto Bay

Levanto is an Italian commune with 5368 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of La Spezia in the Liguria region .

location

Levanto, which emerged from an ancient settlement, is nestled in a small valley, the slopes of which are overgrown with olive and pine trees. The municipality is located directly on the Ligurian Sea and has a short beach. The mountain ridges of the valley terminate directly with the coastal strip and form the Cape of Mesco and the Punta di Levanto .

Until 2009, Levanto was part of the now dissolved Comunità Montana della Riviera Spezzina . The territory of the municipality forms a section of the Cinque Terre National Park .

Levanto has a railway station on the Pisa – Genoa railway line , which connects the place with the neighboring villages and with La Spezia and Sestri Levante .
