Zignago (in Ligurian : Zignego ) is an Italian commune with 497 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Liguria region . The seat of the local government is in the Pieve di Zignago district . Politically, the municipality belongs to the province of La Spezia .

geography

The municipality of Zignago consists of several small settlements in the upper part of the Val di Vara . The local government headquarters are in Pieve di Zignago at an altitude of 632 meters above sea level. In the vicinity of the Valgiungata district, at an altitude of 1047 meters, the Val del Rastrello is located in the Ligurian Apennines , between the Val di Vara and the Val di Magra . This was also the administrative border between the Republic of Genoa and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany .

Zignago belongs to the Comunità Montana dell'Alta Val di Vara .
