Riomaggiore ( Ligurian Rimasùu ) is an Italian municipality with 1429 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of La Spezia and the easternmost of the five villages of the Cinque Terre .

The municipalities also include Manarola , Volastra and Groppo. The neighboring municipalities are La Spezia , Riccò del Golfo di Spezia and Vernazza . Riomaggiore was part of the now dissolved administrative community Comunità Montana della Riviera Spezzina until 2009 .

The Riomaggiore train station on the Pisa – Genoa railway line is located on the north-western edge of the town, largely in the tunnel, with only about two car lengths in the open air. The town center is connected by a footpath running through a railway tunnel.

There is passenger traffic with the neighboring villages by boat. Via dell'Amore , a footpath carved into the rock with picturesque views (currently closed) , also leads to nearby Manarola .

A cul-de-sac leads from the La Spezia – Manarola road to the upper edge of the village. A multi-storey car park built on the mountain slope offers only limited parking options due to the limited space available.
