The province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola is a province in the Piedmont region of Italy . It was created in 1992 from parts of the Novara province . It essentially comprises the Toce river basin and the west bank of Lake Maggiore . Verbano is an alternative name for Lake Maggiore and the area around Verbania , Cusio for Lake Orta and its area, while Ossola stands for Val d'Ossola .

Description: The coat of arms is divided. Above, in red, a vertical golden key with the beard to the dividing line and pointing to the right between two silver three-horns ; below three oblique blue-white cloud sections . The crown of the banner man hovers over the shield , in which there is an oak branch on the right and an olive branch on the left and is tied under it with a ribbon in the Italian colors.
