San Bernardino Verbano is a municipality in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VB) in the Piedmont region .

geography

The municipality includes the fractions Santino, Bieno and Rovegro. The neighboring municipalities are Cossogno , Mergozzo , Premosello-Chiovenda and Verbania . Part of the municipality, which covers an area of ​​26  km² , is located in the Parco nazionale della Val Grande National Park .

Community creation

The municipality of San Bernardino Verbano was founded by royal decree of September 13, 1928 by merging the already existing municipalities of Bieno, Santino and Rovegro. The seat of the municipality was established in the central village of Santino.
