Casale Corte Cerro is a municipality in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VB) in the Piedmont region .

geography

The municipality covers an area of ​​12  km² . The municipality consists of the districts of Arzo, Cafferonio, Cassinone, Cereda, Crebbia, Crottofantone, Gabbio, Montebuglio, Motto, Pramore, Ramate, Ricciano, Sant'Anna and Tanchello. The neighboring municipalities are Germagno , Gravellona Toce , Loreglia , Omegna and Ornavasso .

history

Around 1500 the parish was under the jurisdiction of the County of Angera before becoming the land of the Borromeo family . With Napoleon Bonaparte , it gained French, then Austrian rule before entering the Savoy sphere. In 1861 its borders were incorporated into the newborn Kingdom of Italy (1861–1846) . During the Second World War it was the scene of a violent conflict between partisans , fascists and Germans.
