Arola is a municipality in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VB) in the Piedmont region .

geography

The community lies at an altitude of 615 m above sea level. M. The municipality covers an area of ​​6  km² and consists of the districts of Pianezza and Arola. The neighboring municipalities are Cesara , Civiasco and Madonna del Sasso .

history

Since the Middle Ages, the importance of Arola has been shaped by this connecting road, which is crucial for the economy of the entire Lake Orta region. The story cannot be separated from that of the entire Riviera, from the feud of San Giulio, a gift from Otto II (HRR) to the Bishop of Novara in 1062 and so was the village until 1767.

  • Parish Church of San Bartolomeo, built in the 17th century, has undergone significant restructuring and expansion between the 18th and 19th centuries. Its bell tower is dated 1622.
