Cossogno is a municipality in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VB) in the Piedmont region .

geography

The municipality covers an area of ​​40.26 km² and consists of the districts of Cicogna and Ungiasca. The district of Cicogna is located in the Val Grande National Park , the district of Unigiasca is outside the national park. The municipality covers an area of ​​40  km² . The neighboring municipalities are Cursolo-Orasso , Malesco , Miazzina , Premosello-Chiovenda , San Bernardino Verbano , Trontano and Verbania .

history

The world's first commercial AC power line was built in the municipality: it was built in 1892 by the entrepreneur Carlo Sutermeister according to a project by Professor Galileo Ferraris between Cossogno and Intra .
