Piedimulera is a municipality in the Italian province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola (VB) in the Piedmont region .
geography
The municipality covers an area of 7 km² . The fractions Aprì, Catarnallo, Cimamulera, Colletto, Crosa, Gozzi Sopra, Gozzi Sotto, La Piana, Madonna, Meggiana, Mezzamulera, Morlongo, Pairazzi and San Giuseppe belong to Piedimulera. The neighboring municipalities are Calasca-Castiglione , Pallanzeno , Pieve Vergonte and Vogogna .
history
The territory of the lower Ossola Valley shares several historical events with the Piedimulera: first they depend on the Pieve Vergonte , until 1328 and then on Vogogna . After the end of the civil territorial reference with the Pieve Vergonte, however, the religious survived, so much that the two churches Cimamulera and Piedimulera, built in the Middle Ages as chapels dependent on these churches, were able to break away from it to take over the dignity of the parishes in 1542 first and in 1763 the second.

Attractions
- Palazzo Testoni, the original main component of which is a strong square tower. Built in 1595 by Desiderio Ferrerio, probably to control the mule track that led to the Valle Anzasca . A century later, the Testori family transformed the tower into a noble palace that it is today, known for its rich halls decorated with stucco and paintings.
- Neoclassical parish church of Santi Giorgio e Antonio Abate. The building is organized in a single nave between 1785 and 1790. In the interior of the main portal you can see the painting Cristo Morto by an unknown artist; There are also interesting paintings by the painter Lorenzo Peretti, including a fresco depicting the martyrdom of St. John of Nepomuk . The bell tower next to it dates from the same period (built in 1792) and was raised in the following century.
- Parish church of Sant'Antonio Abate in the fraction of Cimamulera consists of a central and two small aisles. It was built in the 17th century and expanded in 1707.
