Oggebbio is an Italian commune in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Piedmont region .
geography
The municipality is located 12 km from the provincial capital Verbania between Cannero Riviera in the north and Ghiffa in the south on the Piedmontese west side of Lake Maggiore . The municipal area extends over 20.21 km² .
Oggebbio is the topographical name for 15 villages that are scattered in the mountains down to the lake shore. The municipality is located in the district of Gonte . The eight alpine pastures of Oggebbio, "summer villages", which reach up to 1075 m slm height, lie above these villages . The neighboring municipalities are Aurano , Brezzo di Bedero , Cannero Riviera , Castelveccana , Ghiffa , Porto Valtravaglia , Premeno and Trarego Viggiona . The groups Barbè, Cadessino, Camogno, Gonte, Manegra, Novaglio, Piancavallo, Piazza, Pieggio, Quarcino, Rancone, Resiga, Spasolo and Travallino belong to Oggebbio.
The place is a member of the community association Comunità Montana Alto Verbano .

Oggebbio was a feud of the Morigi family, also known as Moriggia, who lived in the Castle of Frino.
