Attractions

  • Parish church of Santi Pietro e Paolo first mentioned in the 14th century. The current baroque structure of the building dates from the 18th century. Inside there are frescoes by Giovanni Valtorta from Milan and paintings by the local painter Sotta. The imposing organ comes from the Bernasconi company from Varese (late 19th century).
  • Oratory of San Bernardino da Siena is located next to the parish church, a little gem of baroque art . Inside you can admire beautiful paintings made by Giuseppe Antonio Maria Torricelli of Lugano in 1777 in collaboration with his brother Giovanni Antonio, in particular the painting Triumph of Saint Bernardino .
  • Fontana del Basilisco next to the parish church was built in 2002 based on a design by Giorgio Cavalli. It has a square plant inspired by the Potentilla Tormentilla flower, which is very common in the area and is featured on the municipal coat of arms. The fountain is part of the Ed Leuzerie and Scherpelit Ecomuseum. The Basilisco Fountain shows a large dragon climbing a stone.
  • The small oratory Madonna del Gabbio, located outside the village on the Melezzo stream, was built between 1723 and 1727 and it contained an earlier image of the Virgin as a target of veneration during the plague of 1513. The building was built in 1733 by the painter Giuseppe Maria Borgnis painted from Craveggia .
  • Historic Mulino dul Tač in the Zornasco district is part of the route of the Ed Leuzerie and Scherpelit Ecomuseum.
