Frosolone is an Italian municipality with 2985 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Isernia in Molise and is a member of the association I borghi più belli d'Italia (The most beautiful places in Italy).

The municipality is located about 17.5 kilometers east of Isernia and borders directly on the province of Campobasso .

history

The community is located in the Samnite - Oscar settlement area and was already settled in ancient times. In the village of Civitelle there are some megalithic remains. Before the earthquake of 1806, Frosolone was one of the most important centers in Molise.

Economy and Transport

There is a several MW wind farm in the community. The former Strada Statale 618 Molesana leads from Cantalupo nel Sannio through the municipality to Castropignano .
