Macchiagodena is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 1756 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Isernia in Molise . The municipality is located about kilometers east of Isernia and borders directly on the province of Campobasso . Macchiagodena is part of the Comunità montana del Sannio .

history

In 964 the community is mentioned for the first time as Maccia de Godena . Originally it was a fortified structure between the counties of Isernia and Boiano.

Trivia

Although the patron saint of the place, St. Nicholas of Myra, is generally venerated on December 6th, the community celebrates him on the third Sunday of May.
