Pescopennataro is an Italian commune ( comune ) in the province of Isernia in the Molise region in the Apennines with 257 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). The municipality is located about 32 kilometers north-northeast of Isernia and borders directly on the province of Chieti ( Abruzzo ). The historical name of the municipality founded by the Lombards in 571 is Castrum Peschi Pignatari . In 2012 the Christmas tree in St. Peter's Square came from Pescopennataro.
