Bra [ˈbra] is a municipality in the Italian province of Cuneo (CN) in the Piedmont region with 29,852 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
The municipality consists of the districts of Pollenzo , San Matteo , San Michele , Bandito and Bra . Pocapaglia , Cherasco , Sanfrè , Cervere and Marene are neighboring municipalities.
geography
The city is located in the Roero , 16 km west of Alba , 49 km south of Turin and 50 km northeast of the provincial capital Cuneo , in the Tanaro Valley .

politics
Bruna Sibille ( PD ) was elected mayor in June 2009 as the successor to Camillo Scimone ( PdL ), who was no longer running. In 2014 she was elected to office. Your center-left alliance, which has 9 out of 20 seats, does not have a majority in the local council.
economy

The most important local sport is field hockey . HC Bra (men) and HF Lorenzoni (women), Italian record champions , are based in Bra .
On June 9, 1994, Bra was the destination of the 19th stage of the Giro d'Italia , where Massimo Ghirotto won .

Since 1988 there has been a partnership with the municipality of Spreitenbach in the Swiss canton of Aargau , since 2001 with Weil der Stadt in Baden-Württemberg , since 2007 with San Sosti in Calabria and Corral de Bustos in the Argentine province of Córdoba .
