Santuario di Vicoforte

The landmark of the city is the Marian sanctuary Santuario di Vicoforte , built from 1592 to 1733 in the baroque style , whose huge dome with a height of 75 meters and a diameter of 35 meters is the largest elliptical dome in the world. Since December 2017 the pilgrimage church has been the resting place of the third Italian king, Victor Emanuel III. and his wife Elena of Montenegro .
