Alta Langa
Alta Langa is the name for an Italian sparkling wine with the status of a controlled and guaranteed designation of origin - Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG for short, updated on March 9, 2011) from 142 municipalities in the provinces of Cuneo , Asti and Alessandria , Piedmont . The area is located on the right bank of the Tanaro River in the Langhe area .

According to this denomination, two types of sparkling wine are produced: “Alta Langa Spumante” (white sparkling wine), including “Riserva” and “Alta Langa Spumante Rosato” (rosé sparkling wine), including “Riserva”. The sparkling wine is (ital. The conventional method metodo classico ) of the bottle fermentation produced and thus belongs to the family of Spumante . After the Franciacorta and Trento wines , the Alta Langa has only been the third region of origin with a controlled and guaranteed designation of origin for sparkling wine in Italy since October 31, 2002.
The sparkling wine is 90-100% of the grape varieties Pinot Noir and / or Chardonnay . A maximum of 10% local grape varieties may still be used.
