Calamandrana is a municipality with 1702 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian province of Asti (AT), Piedmont region .

geography

The place is located at an altitude of 151 m on the Belbo (river system of the Po ), between the hills of Asti and the Langhe . The municipality covers an area of ​​12 km² .

The neighboring municipalities are Canelli , Cassinasco , Castel Boglione , Nizza Monferrato , Rocchetta Palafea and San Marzano Oliveto .

Culinary specialties

In Calamandrana, vines are grown for the Dolcetto d'Asti , a red wine with DOC status. The berries of the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties can be processed into Alta Langa sparkling wine .
